UPDATE (Oct. 23, 2023): Oleg Rijenko, of Vaughan, was convicted of operating a vessel carelessly under the Canada Shipping Act and sentenced at the Bracebridge courthouse on Oct. 11. For the next 12 months, Rijenko is banned from diving a vehicle with any amount of alcohol in his system from Nov. 11 on and can only drive a vehicle with an interlock device and must take the Back on Track Program.
UPDATE (Dec. 8, 2022): Rijenko is due back in Bracebridge court Dec. 20.

UPDATE (Sept. 19, 2022): The accused will appear in court next on Oct. 11, 2022.
A 56-year-old man will be in court to face criminal charges including assaulting a peace officer.
According to the Huntsville OPP, officers were responding to a report at 10 a.m. on June 11 of a suspected impaired person in the water after their boat capsized on Rebecca Lake.
As a result of the investigation, Oleg Rijenko of Vaughan has been charged with operation while impaired — alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and assaulting a peace officer. The charges have not been proven in court.
With the boating season well underway, boaters are reminded to please boat sober and help ensure a safe environment for all water users. Impaired boating is impaired driving and carries the same penalties.
